Useful Blog Links

My new blog is called "Brain Fart Explosion." I'm still designing it. One of my current tasks is finding website links to post on my blog.

Since I'm just starting it, I thought now would be the best time to follow the workbook from Problogger called 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. I've already learned a lot and I've only completed a couple days.

Day 1 - I came up with a brief description of my blog. To do that I defined my audience and what I hope to accomplish with the blog.

Day Two - I wrote a post that's design was in a list. I chose a joke/gag with a step-by-step on how to tell it and trick their their audience. I'm trying to decide on a posting schedule. I think it will be Wacky Fact Wednesday,  and I'm trying to come up with something for Mondays.

For the month of March there will be a post every day based on the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. Even though I'm divulging each step, I'm not sharing the pointers. For the in  depth guide on what to do and how to do it, you'll have to gt your own book.

The National Education Association's Read Across America

For 13 years the National Education Association has promoted reading across the nation. The program runs year-round and seeks to motivate kids to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.

On March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss, NEA celebrates Read Across America. Thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too!

How will you celebrate? Here are a few ideas:

Hold a reading at a homeless shelter. Give away books. Be sure to alert
the media.

Visit a soup kitchen and give away books and promo items.

Visit a children's hospital, orphanage, Girls & Boys Club, inner city school (give a free author visit), library, community organization, etc...

Partner with teachers or a school. Offer a prize to the class that reas the greatest number of books.

Create bookmarks that promote reading. (You can get 1,000 for about $30.00 at Got Print.
Can you share ideas and activities to promote reading with children?
